JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
The Outreach and Communications Specialist will manage content creation and publication and monitor social media interaction on all social media platforms for California Tribal TANF Partnership (CTTP). This includes Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and website content. This position will also work with Site Managers to plan and implement community outreach events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage and oversee social media content.
- Generate, edit, publish, and share content on social media platforms, ensuring content is high quality and error-free.
- Understand the CTTP audience and create content that will engage that audience.
- Interact with participants and Tribal Partner members via CTTP’s social media accounts.
- Use social media tools to maintain the CTTP brand.
- Analyze CTTP’s social media strategy, identify strategic weaknesses, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Plan digital campaigns to build community online.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop content ideas for social media platforms.
- Create press releases, newsletters, brochures, and other outreach literature as needed.
- Research social media trends and inform management of changes that are relevant to CTTP’s activities.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and technologies for social media.
- Assist Site Managers in the planning and implementation of community outreach events.
- Schedule outreach meetings and organize follow-up meetings as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Associates or higher degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations; high school graduate or equivalency and two years’ experience in Social Media, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current California driver’s license.
- Highly computer literate with a solid understanding of social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Excel.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organization and planning skills.
- Strategic and creative mindset.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Must be resourceful and take initiative, even when given minimal direction.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Requires sitting 6-8 hours per day.
- Requires occasional driving to site offices, some of which are in remote locations.
- Requires contact with others (face-to-face or through video conferencing, telephone, e-mail, or correspondence).
- Includes conflict situations.
- Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization.

- Experience working with Tribal People helpful.
- Work hours may vary.
- CTTP conducts a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test, and random or for-cause drug testing thereafter.
